Girls That Build directs mentorship and training programs, taught by women at the top of their industries, conceived to inspire the next generation of women builders. Our mission is to educate girls and young women interested in design, development, and construction.

We believe that the skills we teach and the mentorships we provide are about more than just entering an industry.  These tools help girls and young women to understanding their power, potential and the direct effect they can have on a community.  We feel it’s important for young girls and women to know there are no boundaries to who they can be, what they create and that they can build.

EDUCATION

We want to see every girl reach her full creative potential.  With that mission in mind, each year we host a conference led by top women working in real estate, who offer leadership training sessions and educational workshops for promising young builders. We offer a creative space where they’ll learn about the variety of careers they can pursue and gain hands on experience designing and constructing projects together.

MENTORSHIP

We believe every girl deserves a hero. We match our young members with rare internship opportunities with women working in real estate development. Mentors model their expertise, offer valuable guidance, and help steer their young protégée’s passions towards success. Through meaningful mentorship, we are giving girls the blueprints for success and empowerment. When girls see what women can achieve, they learn to believe that they can follow in their footsteps.

SCHOLARSHIPS

We believe that every girl should be able to chase her dream and make it happen. We award selective scholarships for technical training programs and higher education to young women who are pursuing a degree in the fields of design, development and construction. By easing financial strain, we’re working to ensure that girls have every opportunity available to reach great career heights. We’re not only preparing girls, we’re investing in the next generation of women builders.

Women make up only 2.6% workers in construction and extraction occupations, and this number is about the same as it was three decades ago.
